When will 5G service come?
Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal recently confirmed that it will launch 5G services in August. The company said it will be able to start deploying its 5G network in India by the end of this month along with major tech giants like Samsung, Nokia and Ericsson. Telecom giant Airtel has revealed that the scheme will be rolled out in all cities, including rural areas, by 2024.
Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio, recently said that the event of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” will be celebrated with the launch of 5G across India. Although Jio didn’t launch it on August 15, it is expected to launch soon. The companies are also expected to roll out 5G services in selected cities first on a pilot basis. There are reports that Prime Minister Modi will officially launch the 5G network at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) on September 29.
List of cities to get Airtel 5G network first Airtel is said to be rolling out 5G in only 13 cities first. They will be Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Pune.
Airtel 5G service prices are expected to be similar to 4G prepaid plans. The company’s CTO Randeep Sekhon said, “Globally there is not much difference between 5G and 4G tariffs. We expect 5G plans in India to be similar to 4G rates.
Currently, customers get unlimited benefits with 4G prepaid plans ranging from Rs 500 to Rs 600. Hence, it is said that the price of 5G plans is likely to be in the same range. How expensive 5G will be in India remains to be seen.
