Mumbai, July 23 : The Indian automobile sector has seen a huge growth in recent times. There has been a significant increase in the sales of vehicles such as scooters, bikes, cars. New technology is coming in the automobile market of India. Meanwhile, in the recent past, electric vehicles (Electric Vehicles in India) have captured a large market in India and are increasing. A study by Clement and Energy Research Institute predicts that 30 percent of new vehicles sold in the country will be electric passenger vehicles by 2030. Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW)By 2050, the share of electrics in the total vehicles sold will increase to 75 percent, says the report. The study also says that half of the total new two-wheelers will be electric two-wheelers by 2030. Similarly, the share of electric vehicles in three-wheelers and four-wheelers will be 25 percent.
Over 13 lakh electric vehicles registered in India-
Besides, the government has stated that there are over 13 lakh registered electric vehicles (e-vehicles) in the country, while 2826 public charging stations (PCS) are operational. Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has given this information in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
He said that the total number of electric vehicles in the country as on July 14, 2022 is 13,34,385 and this does not include the figures for Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Lakshadweep. Along with this he said that according to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), a total of 2826 PCS are operational in the country.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that under the Ministry of Heavy Industries’ Phase-II (FAME India Phase-II) plan for rapid adoption and production of electric vehicles, approval has been given to set up 2877 public charging stations in 68 cities and 1576 charging stations on 9 expressways and 16 highways. is
