UPI Payments: DigiSaathi, a 24-hour helpline for making UPI digital payments on feature phones, has been launched.
Good news for those who don’t have a smartphone yet. Because they will also be able to make UPI payments through feature phones. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched UPI Based Payment Product. This will benefit about 44 crore feature phone users in the country. Recently, Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikant Das has launched a UPI based payment product. DigiSaathi, a 24-hour helpline for making UPI digital payments on feature phones, has been launched.
RBI Governor Announces –
UPI based payments through smartphones have become quite popular. Due to the popularity of UPI based payments, the Reserve Bank of India has also introduced UPI based payments through feature phones. The announcement was made by RBI Governor Shaktikant Das in December 2021.
Feature phones are not smartphones. Feature phones do not have the same benefits as smartphones. The feature phone is only available for calling and texting. Added to this is the facility of UPI payment.
Benefits of Digital Payment –
UPI based digital payments are now very popular in India. Many are transacting money through UPI based digital payments. As a result, its market is slowly growing. There are several apps on the market for making UPI based digital payments. Seeing the popularity of the Reserve Bank of India, this time it also launched on feature phones. As a result, the benefits of UPI based digital payments will reach many more people.
India has about 440 million feature phone users –
According to TRAI’s October estimates, the number of mobile phone users in India is around 116 crore. Of these, about 74 crore users use smartphones. The remaining 44 crore users use feature phones. As a result, the Reserve Bank of India has introduced UPI based digital payments for the users of all these feature phones. That is why the new UPI based payment product Digisathi has been brought.
